Modernization and building a new scientific and research infrastructure
at the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology
About the project
Gas Turbine Center co-creates a shared research infrastructure of scientific units, built with the support of the European Union in the Operational Programme Innovative Economy
The construction of the Gas Turbine Center in the Institute of Aviation and creation of the Vacuum Chamber will allow centralization and expansion of the research range. It will also consolidate the cooperation with the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology. Setting up the Center dedicated strictly to completing research in the field of development of gas turbines for the energy sector can help increase the efficiency of research, the quality of results, while making the research service offer of the Institute more attractive. Consequently, due to the extension of the scope of the project, the cooperators will become significant players on the research services market connected with gas turbine development for the energy sector and at the same time strengthen their position in the area of research services for the aviation sector. In this respect, more complex services are going to be offered, as along with realization of multi-faceted research tasks, in which characteristics and development of turbines apply to the specificity and expectations of both the aviation and energy areas.
The extended composition of units realizing the project in question will allow for better use of the know-how and the current and planned infrastructure, for knowledge exchange, and optimal use of the human resources. It will also enable conducting joint studies/research oriented towards the optimal use of current experience, so as to develop solutions with high potential of implementation in aviation and energy areas.
The significant purpose of the project extension is the reinforcement of the potential of Polish research units and the development of international cooperation. Current experience of the Institute of Aviation gained i.a.by completing research projects financed under the Operational Programs, like 5, 6 and 7 of the Framework Programme are invaluable in the context of future research initiatives created together with the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology, especially in the area of applying for support for research projects as a part of Horyzont 2020 programme.
“Modernization and building a new scientific and research infrastructure at the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology for the needs of joint numerical and experimental research on aviation turbine engines” Project is co-financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
Project is realized within the framework of Operational Programme Innovative Economy, 2007-2013.
